Family-Owned Farm Tours
Family-owned dairy farms are at the heart of Wisconsin’s history, and a frontrunner in our current economy. There is much to be learned from a farm tour at Cozy Nook Farm. We offer an educational tour of our working dairy farm, taking participants through the full life cycle of our cows. Lasting about an hour, each tour will see the baby calves, and move through their life cycle to adult cows producing milk. We will look at the food they eat, their size at each stage, and their habitats. In addition, we’ll discuss the impact of the dairy industry on the local, and national economy.
The children will have the opportunity to feed hay to the heifers and pet the baby calves as they walk through the farm. The tour concludes in the milking area where the group can see how a cow is milked. We also offer hayrides to look at the different crops we raise to feed the cows. You will see corn and alfalfa fields, plus the pumpkin patch for the Fall Market.
We recommend a minimum group size of 10, but can accommodate smaller groups as desired. Our goal is to educate participants about Wisconsin’s dairy farms through ways that are engaging and entertaining. These tours are an excellent learning experience for any number of groups, including classrooms, home-schoolers, summer camps and many others.
